How to say it
Brampton. The downtown crossroads is “Four Corners” and everyone uses it as an address. The Flower City is on the signage because Brampton once grew a serious share of North America's roses: worth knowing when somebody tests you on it.
Heads up
The Kitchener GO line is single-tracked for much of its length, so off-peak service is thin. If you are commuting downtown daily, read the actual timetable rather than the map.

Brampton Steelheads
Major junior came back to Brampton in 2024 when the franchise moved up from Mississauga. Best-value hockey ticket in the GTA, and half the roster gets drafted.
CEBL basketball
Brampton Honey Badgers
Professional basketball in the same building, in the summer, when the hockey is off. One arena, two seasons, no gap.
Junior lacrosse
Brampton Excelsiors
Founded in 1883, which makes them one of the oldest continuously operating sports clubs in the country. Box lacrosse in a hot arena in July is deeply Canadian.

Rose Theatre & Garden Square
An 880-seat theatre with a public square attached that runs free films and live music all summer. The most programmed civic space in Peel.
Chinguacousy Park
A ski hill, a curling rink, a greenhouse and a petting zoo, all in one municipal park. It should not work and it entirely does.
Main Street & the Four Corners
Downtown Brampton's independents cluster within three blocks of the crossroads, next to the farmers' market and the theatre.
Queen Street East
Punjabi sweet shops, Caribbean takeaways and West African kitchens along the corridor, most of them in plazas, most of them cash-friendly and open late.

Vaisakhi
The nagar kirtan procession through Brampton is one of the largest Sikh gatherings outside India. Everyone is fed, nobody pays, and it is worth going whatever you believe.

Brampton Farmers' Market
Saturday mornings downtown, running since the 1970s. Peel's oldest market and still the best-attended thing on Main Street.

Brampton's multicultural festival, going since 1982. Pavilions in rec centres across the city, one passport, three days.
