The Bradford Bypass is being built. Good for York?
A highway across the top of the region that people north of Newmarket have wanted for fifty years, and the marsh it crosses.
Community Idea
Keswick, Sutton, Jackson's Point and Pefferlaw, on Lake Simcoe, inside York Region, an hour from Union on a good day. A new fire hall, new parks, a 3.5 per cent tax rise and a lake the town launched a campaign to rescue.

Georgina is the only municipality in the GTA that is on a different lake. It is York Region’s north shore: Keswick and Sutton and Jackson’s Point and Pefferlaw along Lake Simcoe, about 50,000 people, half an hour past Newmarket and a world away from it.
It is also planning like a town that expects company. This year’s budget, 2.25 per cent for operations and 1.25 for infrastructure, funds a South Keswick fire hall for growth that has not arrived yet, a rebuilt Willow Beach Park and a new park in the latest phase of Simcoe Landing. In the spring the lake rose past its seasonal averages and threatened the dikes at the south end of Cook’s Bay; the town and the Rescue Lake Simcoe Coalition launched a Love Our Lake campaign in April. The Bradford Bypass, when it reaches the 404, ends at the door.
Everyone who lives there knows what Georgina is. The people who are about to move there are the ones who will decide what it becomes.
