Should the GTA have a flag?

The flag of Toronto is the two towers of city hall over a red maple leaf, drawn by a student in 1974. Most people who live under it could not draw it back. The flags of Peel, York, Durham and Halton exist in the sense that a heraldic crest on a regional website exists.

The GTA, as a region, has nothing: not a flag, not a colour, not a symbol that means the whole of it. There is an argument that this is correct: a region that cannot agree where it ends should not be sewing anything. There is an argument that six and a half million people who share a lake, a commute and a hockey team have a shared identity whether or not they admit it, and a flag is how a place admits it.

It costs nothing to ask and the responses will be spectacular.
